Thermopylae’s Chief Financial Officer, John Redd, is a results-driven professional with more than 22 years of accounting and financial expertise. He contributes to TST’s business development by supporting the department that ensures the products and services reach customers as efficiently as possible. Mr. Redd draws upon his significant accounting, finance, and legal knowledge acquired throughout his career. He offers indelible insight into strategic management decision-making from his experience working with a broad array of companies.
Prior to joining TST, Mr. Redd has spearheaded efforts to streamline and solidify its internal financial processes to meet regulatory compliance. By creating the framework to replace the company’s antiquated project accounting system, he successfully guided TST through its first audit by the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA). Mr. Redd has improved upon the company’s internal controls, while also leading the reporting, contracts management, financial analysis, tax, treasury, and accounting divisions.
His adaptability as a senior financial adviser was molded as he worked with both public and private, venture-backed companies, ranging from small startups to those with over $350 million in annual revenue. Working with large institutional investors, Mr. Redd provided guidance to the CEO, chairman, and board of directors of several large corporations. In this capacity, he helped lead a team place $75 million in convertible debt securities and raise several rounds of venture capital. Additionally, Mr. Redd has experience in intellectual property agreements, leasing, bank lines of credit, and letters of credit.
Mr. Redd received a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Accounting as well as his Juris Doctor from George Mason University. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Virginia and an active member of the Virginia State Bar.
Mr. Redd’s ability to lead by example and effectively manage others has been recognized by colleagues, whom he has motivated and fortified strong relationships with, within the company. His compassion is further demonstrated through his volunteer work at youth sports and conservation organizations. He resides in Vienna, Virginia with his wife and three children.
