Michael Cachine is the Chief Information Officer of Thermopylae Sciences + Technology (TST). His focus is on delivering world-class IT services to TST employees and supporting the IT solutions infrastructure that fuels TST’s rapid growth. In this role, Mr. Cachine is the executive responsible for integrating the company’s information assets across all business units and for delivering innovative business communication and collaboration solutions company-wide. Additionally, he serves as TST’s Corporate Social Responsibility Officer, leading the company’s philanthropic activities, community engagement, and partnerships with nonprofit organizations in the areas of military and environmental programs, human services, and education and kids.
Mr. Cachine has more than 25 years of experience in information technology management with more than 10 years managing enterprise IT and corporate information services for MCI Communications, a $20 billion Fortune 100 communications company. For 15 years, Mr. Cachine served as a technology adviser and board member to the $150 million William G. McGowan Charitable Fund, and directs the fund’s charitable giving in the Greater Washington D.C. Area. He has helped guide the fund to a recent milestone of over $100 million in grants awarded since 1994. Mr. Cachine actively serves as a member of the fund’s Investment Committee, McGowan Fellows Committee, and is a Planning Committee member of the annual William G. McGowan Symposium on Business Leadership and Ethics.
Prior to joining TST, Mr. Cachine founded and served as an executive officer of a number of technology start-up companies in the Washington, D.C. area. Notably, he was co-founder and CEO of Vistranet Communications, an in-building Internet-managed service provider, where he led the company to profitability and raised more than $50 million in venture capital investment, creating mindSHIFT Technologies which was acquired by Best Buy (NYSE: BBY) for $167 million. Mr. Cachine was founder and CEO of Webiit Communications, a cloud computing consultancy and one of the first Google Apps™ Authorized Resellers worldwide. Mr. Cachine is a board member of Headroom Learning Strategies, a software product company based in Redmond, Wash., that develops the “SAT Success” brand of college entrance examination preparation software.
