GEOINT 2013* Keynote: DNI Clapper “Not Going to Pretend to Do More with Less”
Published on April 15, 2014
The GEOINT 2013* symposium in Tampa, Florida, opened with the keynote from James R. Clapper, Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), who highlighted the challenges that the Intelligence Community (IC) has dealt with over the past year.
From the Boston Marathon bombings in 2013 to sequestration to the government shutdown, which originally postponed the symposium last year, the IC has had to operate under the guise of “doing more with less” during a tremendously difficult time.
DNI Clapper declared in his keynote address that the IC will “not pretend to do more with less.” Rather he believes that the community will “do less with less.” He also discussed how the IC has made tremendous strides in being more transparent to minimize any negative perceptions of the community in the media.
